Our story

The Ecosystem

  1. Currently, we take care of 9 breeds – Kasargod Dwarf, Vechur, Malanad Gidda, Ongole, Kangayam, Gir, Hallikar, Bargur & Kankrej.
  2. Cows only mate naturally with bulls from the same breed.
  3. We follow the ways of breed protection according to each breed’s capacity to ensure healthy conservation for the future.
  4. We cultivate and nourish the cows with natural and indigenous grasses and plants that are not easily accessible to the cows like Ashwagandha and Shatavari for their general well-being.
  5. Cows can freely graze in the 12 acres of Goushala.
  6. We do not use nose ropes on cows.
  7. We do not give ready-made or processed cattle feed to cows.
  8. We give natural coconut pinnakku (oil-cake), Sesame pinnakku & rice husk, which are locally available.
  9. We grow corn grass in and around the Goushala to feed the cows.
  10. The cows have not been affected by any major diseases in the past 12 years & if they have minor cuts or illnesses, they are either treated with natural remedies or let to heal on their own accordingly.
  11. We milk the cow using the traditional process and not with the help of machines.
  12. Calves are fully fed and satiated before taking the milk for other purposes.
  13. We never abandon or give away calves, cows, or bulls.
  14. 50% of the cows that occupy the Goushala are ones saved from slaughterhouses.
  15. We manufacture 50+ products ranging from ghee to floor cleaner using all the cow products – milk, cow urine, cow dung, etc. These include daily use products, agriculture, medical & personal care products.
  16. We produce Gobar gas and slurry, & utilize these for in-house agricultural processes.
  17. We do not use any chemicals inside the 12-acre compound of the Goushala.
  18. No pests or mosquitos trouble the cows or the humans inside the Goushala.
  19. Soothing classical music played all day to sustain a peaceful environment for the cows. Also, arrange live music sessions by eminent artists inside the Goushala as a spiritual offering to the cows.
  20. We do not use any antibiotics or encourage vaccinations for the cows.
  21. We get 1 to 4 liters of milk daily after feeding the calves.

What makes us different from other cattle farms:

  1. Other cattle farms provide commercial cattle feed with urea to nourish the cows.
  2. Many use foods, tablets, or injections to feed hormones in animals to produce more milk, look healthy, etc.
  3. Antibiotics given for preventing diseases cause adverse effects on cattle health overall.
  4. Kulambu rogam, popularly known as Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) or hoof-and-mouth disease (HMD), is a common and fatal disease affecting cows on many other cattle farms.
  5. Lumpy is a dangerous disease affecting all the cows these days and we effectively managed it with the help of natural medicines and timely care.
  6. Nose rope is a heinous method used for controlling the cows from roaming freely & many farms practice it.
  7. Many cattle farms encourage forced breeding for their benefit.
  8. Machines used to milk the cows disrupt the natural process of milk production & most farms promote this without realizing its impact.
  9. Calves have limited access to milk and affection from mothers, which is traumatic for both mother & child.
  10. Many farms pump out 15 – 20 liters of milk daily, which is unhealthy for the cows.
