The Bekal Gokulam Goushala

OUR STORY

At Bekal Gokulam Goushala, we believe in the teachings of Lord Krishna on the significance of art and nature in the prosperity of human life.

Born into a Vaishnava family, Vishnu Hebbar’s father Vamana Hebbar devoted his entire life to pooja at a Vishnu temple in the Kasaragod district of Kerala. He did daily recitals of Bhagavatha Puranam and narrated many stories of Lord Vishnu and Krishna to his sons. He insisted that worshipping Krishna is only complete when a devotee offers protection and care for Krishna’s Gou or cow. This is how Shri Vishuprasad Hebbar’s 15 years of love for cows sprouted and led to the establishment of The Bekal Gokulam Goushala 2012.

During his journey of encounters with the wise sages and saints of India,

Vishnuji went to Swami Raghaveswara Bharati Swamigal, Ramachandrapura Mutt who enlightened him on the scientific health benefits of the Indian cow breeds. In 2003, with Swamiji’s blessings at Poochakkad, Vishnuji stepped up his passion for cow protection by bringing home a Kapila breed of Vechur cow, bull & calf.

Since then, he adopted many cows and built a place filled with music, art, nature & love for them. The minute he gets to know that a cow or a bull is about to be slaughtered, he would initiate the steps to save them. He has been practicing ahinsak ways of cow protection.

Our Mission

To encourage humans to practice organic living and nurture the gifts of nature.

Our Vision

The Bekal Gokulam Goushala envision to be a peaceful sanctuary for cows where art, music & nature unite.
